PURPOSE EFFECT FLOW

I remember signing up for a sewing course a few years ago. The course was very intimate, learning from the basics – taking measurements, designing the form, cutting, sewing. The first day I showed up at the course, led by the wonderful Irena from Belarus, there were two girls besides me. We introduced ourselves one by one, starting with me: Marta, then Kinga and then Natalia. The names of all the participants, and surprisingly, mine too. Yes, those are my three names I knew right away that I was in the right place.

And so, a jump to the present, because I haven’t sewn for a long time, and something in me was really demanding it. About 3 years ago I was going to sew a backpack and I stopped at that intention. Until now – this intention, this goal appeared in my head again. Yes, a backpack, I want to sew a backpack! This thought was also accompanied by a feeling, such warmth and joy. And so this backpack followed me. One day I took out the machines, materials, all the accessories and I was choosing from what I had. The backpack was somewhere in my head, a kind of backpack-bag. And so I planned it in my head. I wanted to sew a drawstring, but it didn’t work out. And then I knew I had to change something. When I started arranging the accessories, I felt that it had to be a bag. These accessories made it happen. These details, decorations, and specifically fringes. When I put them on the main form, I knew right away. And I started sewing. First the main part, the bag. Then I started thinking about the strap, what it should be like, how to attach it, how to sew it. And at the same time what kind of closure for the bag and whether to do it at all. I had a piece of material and after putting it on I saw that it could be a flap. But the flap itself was kind of boring so I added the fringes! And that was it! And I also had to have a button. It suited me somehow

The belt with buckles was ordered (however I gave up on sewing it when I saw this perfectly matching chocolate brown in the haberdashery) and was waiting for the final touches or rather seams to attach it

When sewing this bag I never used a ruler, I didn’t make a design beforehand, I didn’t have a written plan, I didn’t have measurements. I had an image in me that was taking shape, emerging and getting more specific when I was creating the bag. Yes, the bag wasn’t created in one day, it was a process – 3 short evenings. I followed what I wanted to create. I had a goal in me, not knowing the exact effect, I followed the flow or maybe rather in the flow and every time it gave me incredible joy
I am delighted with my new bag!

No, it’s not straight as a ruler (because I haven’t used one ;)), it has some minor flaws, because I haven’t sewn in a long time and I haven’t mastered this art as much as I would like. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely mine.

Sometimes certain projects take a long time to germinate in us until the moment comes when they want to come true. There’s a readiness in us.

What puts you in flow?
Or maybe you don’t know and want to discover it?
What makes time irrelevant when you do THIS?

DISC D3 – a tool for understanding yourself and your environment

DISC D3 is a modern diagnostic tool based on the study of personality styles, motivations, values and talents. It serves both individuals and teams and organizations, offering a deeper understanding of human behavior in various contexts. Thanks to DISC D3, you can communicate better with others, resolve conflicts and build effective relationships.

Roots in Jung’s theory
The foundations of DISC D3 go back to Carl Gustav Jung’s theory of psychological types. Jung emphasized that human behavior can be analyzed in the context of preferences: introversion and extraversion, ways of processing information (perception, thinking, feeling, intuition) and decision-making. These concepts were developed and adapted by William Marston, the creator of the original DISC methodology, and then enriched in the DISC D3 model, which adds an analysis of motivations, values and natural and adaptive behaviors.

DISC D3 Methodology
DISC D3 is based on four main dimensions:
– Dominance: the way you respond to challenges and control.
– Influence: the way you build relationships and communicate.
– Steadiness: the approach to work pace and stability.
– Compliance: the attitude to rules and details.

Additionally, the analysis includes motivators and values that guide decisions and behaviors in the professional and private environment.

Value for individuals, teams and organizations
– For individuals: DISC D3 supports the development of self-awareness, which allows for a better understanding of your strengths, areas for improvement and natural talents. It helps in choosing or changing a career path, improving relationships and effective communication, and selecting the right professional and/or team role. DISC D3 is also an excellent tool for developing leaders, diagnosing their leadership style, and identifying areas for development in managerial and leadership roles.
– For teams: this tool helps improve communication, understand differences in work styles and resolve conflicts. It allows you to build teams that complement each other in their competences.
– For organizations: DISC D3 supports the development of an organizational culture based on understanding and respect for diversity. It helps in recruiting, developing talent and increasing employee engagement.

DISC D3 is not only a diagnostic tool, but also a guide to a deeper understanding of yourself and others. Its roots in Jung’s theory give it a solid scientific basis, and its modern approach makes it extremely useful in today’s world. Whether you are a leader, a team member or working on your own development, DISC D3 opens up new possibilities for building relationships, achieving goals and developing potential.

If you are interested in the DISC D3 Study, I invite you to purchase the study and to a consultation session.

Transpersonal coaching – a journey into and beyond yourself

Transpersonal coaching is a unique development process that differs from classic coaching methods. It focuses not only on achieving goals or solving current problems, but above all on discovering a deeper dimension of life, values and the meaning of existence. In the transpersonal approach, a person works on looking into themselves and going beyond their “self”, opening up to the connection with the surrounding world, intuition and the spiritual dimension of life.

What is transpersonal coaching?

Transpersonal coaching draws from transpersonal psychology, a direction created by researchers such as Ken Wilber, Abraham Maslow and Stanislav Grof. Ken Wilber, the author of works on the development of consciousness, emphasizes that the transpersonal process is based on the understanding that personal development does not end at the level of the ego, but requires reaching for deeper, more universal values. The goal of transpersonal coaching is to help the client discover who they are on a deeper level, and what gives their life authentic meaning and fulfillment.

Process

During coaching sessions, the person not only discovers their goals and desires, but also learns to look beyond the limitations of their own ego. This process includes:
1. Exploring values and meaning – the coach supports the client in finding the values that are fundamental to them, and helps to translate them into everyday life.

2. Discovering the spiritual dimension – by working with intuition and mindfulness, the client opens up to inner wisdom, which often remains inaccessible in an approach focused solely on rational thinking.

3. Expanding awareness – thanks to techniques of working with breathing, meditation or mindfulness, the client develops awareness of their thoughts, emotions and deep beliefs that may block their development.

4. Working with beliefs – the transpersonal process helps identify and transform limiting thought patterns, opening the door to greater freedom and authenticity.

Benefits of Transpersonal Coaching

This process provides the client with a number of benefits that go far beyond traditional coaching:

– Deep self-understanding – transpersonal coaching allows the client to discover their deepest desires and values, which translates into a more authentic life.

– Inner and outer harmony – by opening up to the spiritual dimension of life, the client learns to balance their needs, goals and relationships with the environment.

– Increased emotional resilience – by expanding awareness and acceptance of their own emotions, the client becomes more resistant to stress and copes better with difficulties.

– Life transformation – this process often leads to profound changes, helping the client discover new professional or personal paths that are consistent with their inner truth.

Possible threats and challenges

Although transpersonal coaching can bring many benefits, it also carries some challenges:

– Emotional intensity – working on a spiritual level can trigger strong emotions, especially when the client confronts deeply rooted beliefs or difficult memories. In such a case, it is important to have an experienced coach who will help understand and integrate these emotions.
– Risk of “getting stuck” on the spiritual level – some clients may become fascinated by the spiritual aspect, neglecting the practical aspects of life. It is crucial for the coach to help the client maintain a balance between self-development and everyday duties.
– Lack of understanding of the environment – the internal processes that take place in transpersonal coaching may be unclear to the client’s loved ones or co-workers. This can cause misunderstandings and a sense of isolation, which is why it is important to support the coach in communicating with the environment and maintaining openness to relationships.

Inspirations from transpersonal literature

It is worth mentioning the classics of transpersonal literature that may be helpful for people interested in this process:
– “The Spectrum of Consciousness” by Ken Wilber – this book introduces the subject of consciousness development and discovers the levels of consciousness that people who develop spiritually go through.
– “In Search of the Miracle” by Stanislav Grof – presents transpersonal experiences and the possibilities offered by working with an expanded state of consciousness.
– “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle – this book is not directly related to transpersonal coaching, but it helps build mindfulness and contact with your own spiritual side, which is key in this process.

How to cope with challenges?

In order for transpersonal coaching to be safe and effective, it is worth:
– Maintaining balance – the coach should support the client in maintaining a balance between spiritual development and everyday life.
– Maintaining openness to emotions – working with difficult emotions is a natural part of the process, which is why the coach helps the client recognize and accept the feelings that appear.
– Using support – transpersonal coaching is often a path to deep transformation, which is why an environment that supports the client’s development is important.

Transpersonal coaching is a process leading to a deep connection with one’s own Self and the values that give life meaning, as well as transcending one’s own Self and connecting with Universal Consciousness. Thanks to openness to the spiritual dimension and conscious self-discovery, the client gains a fuller and deeper understanding of their life and motivations, which allows them to live in accordance with their deepest values and in harmony with reality.

If you feel the need and want to take advantage of a Transpersonal Coaching session, write to me and arrange a session.

See you at your journey!

Marta

Development of individuals, organizations and cultures from a transpersonal, coaching and mentoring perspective

Personal and organizational development, both at the level of individuals and entire cultures, is a key aspect of contemporary activities aimed at improving the quality of life, work and mutual relationships. In the transpersonal, coaching and mentoring perspective, this development is not only a path to improving competences, but also a profound journey to discovering meaning, harmony and unity with the environment. At the center of this process is the need for change, in which individuals, organizations and societies strive for self-fulfillment and a fuller understanding of themselves and their role in the world.

What is the purpose of development?

Development aims to achieve a higher level of awareness, increased creativity and authentic leadership. Both in the individual and collective context, development leads to the discovery of deeper meaning, which allows people to act with greater motivation, self-confidence and a sense of agency. It includes not only the realization of personal goals, but also serving common values and contributing to the development of the environment and society.

Through the development process, individuals and organizations gain the ability to make the right decisions and actions. Such development also supports the ability to adapt to changing conditions and challenges, which is particularly important in today’s rapidly changing world. The pursuit of development therefore promotes not only achieving success, but also supports a sense of fulfillment and belonging to something greater.

Development in a transpersonal perspective

In the transpersonal context, development goes beyond individual goals and ego needs, striving for a state of unity with the surrounding world. According to the theories of thinkers such as Ken Wilber and Stanislav Grof, this development includes “transcending” the limitations of personality, leading to a deeper understanding of the spiritual dimension of life. Transpersonal development is a journey of discovering changed states of consciousness that allow access to inner wisdom and the experience of “oneness with all of existence”. In practice, this means that individuals or organizations open up to a fuller experience of creative genius and the meaning of their actions, combining the pursuit of success with care for others and the environment.

Transpersonal development of individuals and organizations serves to build an awareness of unity, empathy and cooperation. Organizations based on transpersonal values strive to take into account diversity and integrate different perspectives and styles of thinking. They are open to new ideas, support changes and implement actions based on deeper meaning and values.

Coaching dimension of development

In coaching, development means the process of discovering the potential of an individual or organization and supporting them in achieving specific goals. Coaching helps individuals and teams achieve what seems unattainable, often by breaking limiting patterns of thinking. This process is aimed at increasing awareness and responsibility, helping clients discover new possibilities of action and identify their strengths.

Coaching development, through appropriate questions and exercises, opens up new possibilities and encourages the search for innovative solutions. This process allows individuals and organizations to better understand themselves, their values and priorities. It also helps in developing leadership competences, facilitating work on achieving common goals and strengthening cooperation.

The role of mentoring in the development of an individual and an organization

Mentoring is based on the transfer of knowledge and experience by a mentor to individuals or organizations that want to develop their competences and insight into their professional or social role. Mentoring serves to develop new skills, support professional development and discover one’s place in the world. A relationship with a mentor allows participants to develop through reflection, gaining inspiration and modelling attitudes based on trust, integration and cooperation.

In an organisational context, mentoring supports the development of employees and leaders, which helps strengthen bonds within the team and create a coherent organisational culture. Mentoring, like coaching, also facilitates adaptation to change and the development of skills that support innovation and flexibility in action.

Key elements of individual and organizational development

Development, both personal and organizational, cannot be complete without taking into account several important aspects:

1. Finding meaning and mission – development should be consistent with values that give deeper meaning to the actions of the individual or organization.

2. Taking conscious actions – development requires responsible choices and decisions that lead to the realization of common goals.

3. Altered states of consciousness – working with deeper levels of consciousness opens to creativity and discovering potential, both individual and collective.

4. Creativity and cooperation – striving for growth promotes the development of new ideas, and cooperation allows for the realization of more complex goals.

5. Considering diversity – a key element of healthy development is adopting different points of view and diverse skills.

The importance of a holistic approach to development

The transpersonal, coaching and mentoring approach creates a common space that allows individuals and organizations to reach for more comprehensive experiences and realize their full potential. Development in these three areas enables achieving success and a sense of fulfillment at the individual, organizational and social level. In the face of global challenges, this development is an opportunity to build more empathetic, creative and sustainable societies, ready for cooperation and striving for the common good.

In the realm of education and cognitive psychology, the concepts of LOT (Lower Order Thinking) and HOT (Higher Order Thinking) shed light on different levels of cognitive engagement and problem-solving.

LOT primarily involves basic cognitive skills like memorization, comprehension, and application of information. It deals with tasks that require little to no critical thinking or creativity, such as rote memorization of facts or simple arithmetic calculations.

On the other hand, HOT refers to cognitive processes that involve deeper understanding, analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and creativity. It entails complex problem-solving, critical thinking, and the ability to generate novel ideas and solutions.

The scientific foundation of these concepts lies in theories of cognitive development, such as Jean Piaget’s stages of cognitive development and Benjamin Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives. Piaget proposed that as individuals mature, they progress from concrete operational thinking to abstract reasoning, which aligns with the transition from LOT to HOT. Bloom’s taxonomy also highlights the progression from lower-order cognitive skills (remembering, understanding) to higher-order skills (analyzing, evaluating, creating).

When it comes to creativity, HOT plays a vital role. Creativity involves not only recalling information or understanding concepts but also recombining ideas in novel ways, questioning assumptions, and exploring alternative perspectives—all of which are hallmarks of higher-order thinking. While LOT has its place in building foundational knowledge, it’s HOT that fosters innovation and originality.

In education, striking a balance between LOT and HOT is crucial. While LOT ensures students grasp fundamental concepts, HOT encourages them to think critically and creatively, preparing them to tackle real-world challenges and contribute innovatively to society. Ultimately, promoting HOT cultivates a culture of creativity, fostering individuals who can adapt, innovate, and thrive in an ever-changing world.

Have a creative day

Common purpose, individual goals and diversity

Did you know that even if a team has one common goal each team member pursues that goal in their own unique way?

This is for a very simple reason, each of us perceives and experiences reality differently in our own unique way. However, we have been taught that for the common good we must sacrifice and even renounce our uniqueness, and perhaps at some stage of evolution this was necessary or necessary. Now it is not, and it completely fails us and prevents us from evolving. Both at the individual and collective (group, team, cultural, etc.) level, because when we renounce our own uniqueness, we lose the diversity of the group. Group diversity is a key element in development and evolution. When there is diversity, then everything fits together. The same is true in nature, and there is a reason why biodiversity is another such important topic. And it relates to exactly the same aspect, illustrating it perfectly. If we have a tropical forest with millions of species of plants, animals and insects and also bacteria and all kinds of other creatures, then this ecosystem naturally develops. Some one insect will pollinate some flower that will produce a fruit, then that fruit will be eaten by some animal and not infrequently that very animal becomes food for another animal. When we destroy diversity, we thereby kill the entire ecosystem that lived thanks to this biodiversity. Not to mention the natural healing resources that we as humans use or could use.

When we have a common goal to achieve, instead of cutting down the ecosystem and thus trying strenuously to make everyone behave and act the same way, it is worthwhile to create such conditions for the ecosystem, such a tropical forest, so that all kinds of species can flourish in it, serving the common goal, which forms naturally, as it were. For what is the purpose of a tropical forest? First of all, it is the lungs of our planet and the habitat of more than half of all plant and animal species known to us. Development and life.

Translating this into human language, a unique individual perspective, combined with unique internal values, is the compass that guides each person, consciously or not, but always guides. It is our internal motivator, an imperative. Just as every plant knows how it should grow and what it needs, so a person also knows deep inside himself what he wants and needs. This is also what coaching is about.

When we create goals in business, it is important that team members identify with the goals. They can only identify with them when they take an active part in formulating them and when they feel that they want to achieve them. When goals are imposed only top-down, and if they are set very high, this is very often the way to lack of commitment and only superficial realization of the goal. There is no intrinsic motivation. And this one is always the most important. It can only occur when there is an internal connection, an inner desire to achieve the goal, arising from a natural need, potential and value-based enthusiasm.

So here are some questions for you:

– What goal is your team pursuing?
– Do all participants know what goal they are pursuing and how will you know it?
– Are the individual goals of the participants aligned with the goal of the whole team, and how will you determine this?
– What kind of ecosystem does your team create?

Have a good day,
